The winter fast cruises have proved to be very popular events with many members looking for a chance to crew and enjoy the fun. To assist finding places for all would be crew, I urge skippers looking for crew and members looking for the chance to crew, to put record their interest here and I will endeavour to match crews to skippers wherever possible.

Crew available

Hi Skippers, Does anyone have space for an extra member of crew on the 1st fast cruise / Frostbite rally (or other events)? I have recently completed Day Skipper and am keen to learn more. I am a reformed dinghy sailor who is able to make tea at all points of sail. I am at the club on Tuesdays and more than happy to meet up for a drink beforehand. Henry

Hello all trusty skippers, I would really like to join a crew for this rally. I'm a hardy shipmate - will do most things and always bring cake! I live in Walthamstow, NE London, and can get myself to wherever you're starting from. Any one got a space? Mary

One sailor or couple to sail with me in July in the wonderful cruising area in south Denmark in my Najad 44" sloop. Complete instrumentation and very fine sailing yacht. Whether permitting we may for a number of nights anker in one of the many cosy bays in the area and go ashore with the dinghy. There is a forward guest cabin with own head with shower. Join in Svendborg or Faaborg. Indicate which week or weeks you could join. Costs for provision, harbour fees and diesel used to be shared.

I have been let down at short notice by a good friend who cannot join sail from mid May 2018 to end of June 2018. The cruise starts in the Solent on/about Thu 17 May and I must be in Plymouth by Sunday 27 May. It will be lonely if I am on my own! The second part of the cruise starts from Plymouth Fri 1 June 2018 until back in Solent Sat 30 June. Route flexible to suit prevailing winds and whoever is on board. So Scillies/North Brittany/Channel Islands all possible. Southerly 115 Swing Keel/Autopilot/Radar/Heater Share victualing and marina costs (expect plenty of time at anchor rather than marinas) .

If anyone is interested on day outings from Ipswich during 2018 on my Hardy 50 (Dolphin) please let me know. Dolphin is an Ocean Rated Power Boat and I keep her at Ipswich Haven Marina where there is adequate parking. The Marina is also within walking distance of Ipswich Railiway Station with excellent connections to London, Cambridge etc Iain Muspratt

5&6 May - start of season rally at the Royal Solent Yacht Club. "Temptation" is a Westerly Regatta 290 a 29’ cruiser with hull designed by Ed Dubois making her fast and with good windward performance. Ideal crew are helm plus two or three - foredeck / spinnaker experience would be a bonus. Home port is Lymington so we can find a "long way" to Yarmouth and back maybe via Newtown or a West circuit via the Needles dependant on weather and tides.

Juno (an X34) is looking to add one or two people to her crew pool for 2018 and onward. Juno mainly races and this year is focusing on inshore and coastal races in the Solent-Poole area with one cross-channel race to Alderney. Next year will probably have more of an offshore racing focus. You don't need to have to have any racing experience to join, but you do need to be prepared to give enough time to learn some skills reasonably quickly and become a productive member of the team. Several of Juno's crew have sailed on her for a number of years and either are or were LSC members - including a navigation prizewinner (not the skipper!) and an eminent member of the training establishment - so you know the company should be good. Applications from reasonably fit enthusiastic candidates of either gender are welcomed. As befits her name, Juno is definitely an equal opportunities boat - but you must eat meat! If you are interested please contact her skipper, Charles Whittam.
