RYA VHF Short Range Certificate Online Course and Examination
For the Assessment only - Due to COVID-19 we are now taking VHF assessment by personal appointment. The Assessment will take place at the Little Ship Club, London. Please book using the tab to your right and use the contact details to make arrangements for your assessment. If you have any problems, contact firstname.lastname@example.org
If you own a fixed or hand held marine radio you are required by law to hold an operators license and if you are up-grading your installation to include a Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) radio you will need a new license.
The course for the Short Range Certificate (SRC) is taught on-line with an instructor available via email if required and also in the Classroom. The online course allows students to proceed at their own pace. Once the course has been completed the final examination will be taken at the club using modified DSC radios. To access the on-line course you will need to register and pay online to obtain the code. The required course materials, which are included in the course costs, are available as a booklet or in electronic form to download to a tablet. Please contact the Club office with which version you would prefer.
The course covers the use of marine radio including GMDSS, routine, distress, urgency and safety procedures.
