Burns Night Piper at Little Ship Club

We were a more select group this year from the point of view of numbers being just under 80 celebrating, but as I have always said it is quality not quantity.

We had a splendid evening. Our Pipe Major John Spoore looked resplendent especially with his seven thousand pounds worth of bagpipes.  He was after all the Queen Mother’s piper.  Didier, Taz and the team did us proud with the best roast beef I have ever had.

Haggis at the Little Ship Club

The poor old Haggis was subjected as usual to Peter Knight’s Address to the Haggis, that big knife gives me the shivers, not sure what the Haggis thinks.  Peter is not only a stalwart member of the LSC but has been for 50 years, congratulations to Peter.

Later as usual he got us all dancing. I think we did better than last year, fewer muddles and feet stepped on!

The McBains band played so well for the ceilidh. Sometimes I think Mr McBain’s face gets longer every year, for regular Burns’ Night attendees you will know what I mean, but he says the LSC is his favourite place to come as everyone is so nice to them.

Thanks also to Diana Irons for her lovely rose displays.  Bill Blain did a marvellous Immortal Memory. Geoff Quentin did sterling work with the Toast to the Lassies considering he had never been to a Burns’ Night before, and Kate Newman gave an great Reply to the Lassies.

What could be better than rounding off an excellent evening with us all of singing Auld Lang Syne.
