Virtual Regatta Vendee Globe Winner 16/1/21 - 17/01/2021

The winner of the Virtual Regatta Vendee Globe Race has returned to Les Sables d’ Olonne on 16/1/2021 after 68 days 22 hours 16 minutes and 4 seconds of intense course setting and sail changing. Pete Hampson finishes 5 hours behind the winner.

As the leaders in the Vendée Globe Race 2020/21 reach the half way stage there is a change of lead as Charlie Dalin in Apivia suffers damage to the port foil of his ultra modern 60ft Imoca Class yacht. Sam Davies in Innitiatives-Coeur is back on the Race Course sailing to save kids. Yannick Bestaven in Maitre Coq IV climbs the mast with some tape to make a sail repair and records his handiwork on a short video. Alex Thompson is now back in the UK and will be with his family for Christmas. There have been 6 retirements so far out of the 33 starters and never before have 5 competitors been within 2 miles of each other at this stage of a round the world race.
